France’s industrial production declined unexpectedly in August, after rebounding in the previous month, the statistical office Insee showed Tuesday.
Industrial production dropped 0.3 percent month-over-month in August, reversing a 0.8 percent rise in July. Meanwhile, economist had expected a 0.4 percent increase for the month.
Output in the manufacturing industry contracted 0.4 percent from July, when it rose by 0.6 percent.
Production of machinery and equipment goods registered a decline of 1.4 percent. At the same time, construction output grew slightly by 0.1 percent.
Industrial production of the last three months advanced 2.4 percent compared with the same period if 2016.
